I am a student of Prof Sanjay Bakshi and my name is Ankur Jain. My first exposure to Buffett and Munger was in Prof Bakshi’s class and from thereon, life took a different turn – towards the pursuit of learning and knowledge.
I studied Engineering at NIT (National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar) & Management at MDI (Management Development Institute, Gurgaon).
Subsequently, I enrolled at UBM (University of Buffett and Munger) which is more like Hotel California – “You can check out anytime you like, But you can never leave.”
I follow the principles of Buffett, Munger and Fisher in my pursuit of good investment ideas. I look for the trinity of businesses with strong competitive advantages, run by ethical managements and available at fair valuations.
I live in Kolkata (India) and practice investing full time.
The 3 attributes which I strive for:
I endeavour to be focused on the work at hand- which is to find good quality businesses.
I strongly believe that both good and evil, lie in detail. And detail comes from depth. Any idea that I work on, I endeavour to get down to the utmost depth.
It’s important not to get carried away and fall in love with ideas. The ideas should make perfect economic sense – every time and always.
